Fortas – Vilnius Akropolis
“Fortas” at Vilnius Akropolis: more than just cepelinai!
When I suggested to my friend that we go to “Fortas,” she asked, “Cepelinai?” But as soon as we saw the menu, we realized this place was on a whole different level. The beef tartare, made with red onions, capers, pickled cucumbers, sun-dried tomatoes, egg yolk, and white wine vinegar sauce, was perfect with the tartare itself. 🍞 The warm, soft bread really brought out these flavors.
The duck breast was a real surprise – although it looked firm at first, it was incredibly tender.
The octopus, perfectly prepared with cauliflower puree, pumpkin, chimichurri sauce, chorizo, and small portions of potatoes, really complemented the dish. 🦑
The beef steak was tender and juicy, served with roasted eggplant, leeks, broccoli, cheese pudding, and roasted cherry tomatoes. Each component blended harmoniously with the others, creating a perfect balance of flavors.
The appetizer platter was a real discovery – much more filling and diverse than expected. It included cured fried bread, ham, pickled cucumbers, olives, smelt, and amazing homemade doughnuts – warm, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth. 🧀
The service was truly attentive – the waitress made sure we had everything we needed. The interior is classic yet updated, adding a touch of luxury. ✨
“Fortas” is a great choice if you’re looking for quality food after shopping at Akropolis. It’s perfect for those who don’t want to deal with the crowds in the Old Town, where parking is always a hassle.
